A longitude and latitude point will be captured at the moment the user opens any survey - whether alerted or user-initiated. A timestamp (in UTC) is also collected.


This is an optional feature that must be activated in your account before it will work.


Account Set Up

Once activated you can turn this feature on or off for any user or group in your study. 


Navigate to the My Surveys page of any user and click the "Configure Momentary Parameters" icon

Then under Sensors and Location check the box for "Record Location at Time of Assessment"

Click UPDATE.


All you need to do now is ask the user to press DOWNLOAD on their app after you have updated this parameter. Make sure the user has the location services on their phone turned on. These local phone operating system settings will override those you program in mEMA.  


Finding your Data

The longitude and latitude points for each survey will be logged in the same file as the survey responses. When you go to the Flat Data File you will see an option "Show Location". 

Checking this will allow you will see two additional columns in the data file with the longitude and latitude.
