This feature allows you to program the mEMA System to automatically send you, or one of your team, an email whenever any of your participants select a specific response in any of your surveys. It is typically used for high-risk participants, for example, those who indicate a high likelihood of immediate self-harm.

  1. Open the question that contains the trigger response
  2. Check the box "Triggers Message"
  3. Enter the condition. The condition is similar to setting up dependencies:
    1. The ID is set on the Question #
    2. The logical operator can be any of the following:
      1. >, <, >=, <=
  4. Enter the recipient's email address. Multiple email addresses can be entered, separated with a comma.
  5. Enter a message or leave it this field blank and a default message will be sent.

6. Using any or all of the following codes the messages will be populated with the corresponding data values

[MEMA_CODE]:   The participants mobile code

[QUESTION_ID]:   The ID of this question

[QUESTION_TAG]:   The short text of the question

[ANSWER_ID]:   The ID of the selected answer

[ANSWER_TAG]:   The short text of the answer

[SCORE]:   The value of selected answer times the value of the question.

[DATE]:   The local date and time when the participant selected the answer.

[SURVEY_ID]:  The ID of the survey

[SURVEY_TAG]:  The short text/name of the survey

For example, you could type in the Message field:

"This is an automated notification for a momentary survey question by the participant with the mobile code: [MEMA_CODE]

The answer to the question [QUESTION_TAG] was [ANSWER_TAG] with a score of [SCORE] on [DATE]"
