Garmin Trigger Log

Garmin Trigger Log is a new report that allows researchers to view when a participant received a Garmin Trigger and assess how many Garmin triggers occurred during the study.

Pre-requisites

In order to have access to the Garmin Trigger Log, the researcher needs to be part of the “Garmin Triggers” permit group and have access to the “Selective Reports” mEMA website page.

How to generate the Garmin Trigger Log report

  1. After the participant has received at least one Garmin trigger and subsequently “Uploaded” or “Synchronized” from the mEMA mobile app, the licensed professional account may log into the mEMA Website and go to the “Selective Reports” page

The Garmin Trigger Log table contains the following:

  • Respondent ID as “Rsp Id” – This is one of the participant identifiers code;
  • Survey ID as “Survey Id” – This is the Survey identifier code;
  • Instance ID as “Instance Id” – This is the timestamp of when the trigger occurred;
  • End Time Stamp as “End Ts” – This is the timestamp of when the survey availability ended;
  • Data Type as “Dta Type” – This is the Garmin Data type used for the trigger;
  • Triger Value as “Trg Val” – This is the value that Garmin data needs to reach in order for a trigger to occur (this value is set when the trigger is created on the Garmin Trigger page based on the amount of Garmin data already collected and  set configuration);
  • Current Value as “Cur Avg” – This is the value for which the trigger occurred;
  • Survey Response Count as “SurveyResponseCount” – This is the response count of the survey.  If the value is 0, the participant received the trigger but they did not complete the survey. Any number higher than 0 shows how many questions the participant responded to.

Additional notes:

  • For iOS you need to wait at least 15 min after the participant uploaded the survey for the table to be updated. This is because survey response data takes a bit longer to be processed.
