mEMA10 - Support Feature Overview

The Support Team feature in mEMA10 allows Customers to set up caregiver, clinician, or observational protocols around a Participant using real-time data.
 Licensed Customers can configure notifications or trigger surveys for Support Team members based on:

  • Participant survey responses
  • Garmin trigger conditions
  • Geofence events

This feature provides significantly faster intervention or support workflows compared to email-only alerting.

Setting Up a Support Team for a Mobile Code

Step 1 — Create Mobile Codes

Create two mobile codes:

  • one for the Participant (e.g., the child)
  • one for the Support Team member (e.g., the caregiver)

Step 2 — Select the Participant

In the mEMA10 Configuration page, choose the mobile code of the Participant you want to create a support team around.

Step 3 — Add a Support Team Member

Click the Add Support Team button/icon.

Step 4 — Select the Support Member

Search for the mobile code you want to add (e.g., parent or caregiver) and click the checkmark to select it.

Step 5 — Enable Messaging

For the same Support Team mobile code, scroll to Misc Parameters, enable Messaging, and click Save Changes.

Triggering Surveys or Messages to the Support Team

Support Team notifications can be triggered in three different ways:

  • When a Participant answers a survey question in a specific way
  • When a Garmin trigger condition is met
  • When the Participant enters or leaves a Geofence

Below are the setup instructions for each trigger type.

Triggering Support Team Notifications Through Survey Responses

1. Open/Create the Survey

Go to the Create Survey page and either create a new survey or open an existing one.

2. Edit the Question

Create a question or click Edit on the question where you want the trigger logic.

3. Enable Triggering

Check the Trigger Message checkbox.

4. Define the Condition

Enter the condition that should trigger the Support Team notification.
 (This uses the same logic as Email Triggers.)

5. Optional Message

Enter the message Support Team members should receive.
 This can be left blank.

6. Optional Survey

Enter the Survey ID you want Support Team members to complete.
Use -1 if no survey should be triggered.

7. Notify the Support Team

Check the Notify Support Team checkbox.

8. Define Delivery Delay

Set the delay (in minutes) before the Support Team receives the notification.
Minimum = 1 minute.

9. Save Parameters

Click Set Parameters.

10. Ensure Assignments

Verify that Support Team members:

  • have the triggered survey assigned
  • have the mEMA10 app installed
  • have their mobile code synced

Triggering Support Team Notifications Through Garmin Triggers

1. Create a Garmin Trigger Condition

Go to Advanced Garmin Triggers and configure your condition.

2. Open the Participant Configuration

Select the Participant under mEMA10 Configuration.

3. Select the Garmin Trigger

Under Time Triggers, choose your Garmin trigger from the dropdown.

4. Optional Survey

Select a survey to send to the Support Team (or leave blank).

5. Notify the Support Team

Set Notify Team = Yes.

6. Optional Message

Enter the message you want the Support Team to receive.

7. Configure Trigger Parameters

Enable and configure the Trigger Parameters section.

8. Save Changes

Click Save Changes.

9. Ensure Device Setup

Participant must:

  • use mEMA10
  • sync their mobile code
  • pair their Garmin device

Support Team members must:

  • have mEMA10
  • sync their mobile code
  • have the triggered survey assigned

Triggering Support Team Notifications Through Geofences

1. Configure the Geofence

Navigate to Geofences, create or select a Geofence group, and create/edit a location.

2. Enable Team Notifications

Check Notify Team inside the Geofence configuration.
 Leave survey blank if you don’t want to assign one.

3. Optional Message

Enter the message Support Team members should receive.

4. Save

5. Participant Configuration

Go to mEMA10 Configuration and select your Participant.

6. Enable Location Tracking

Enable Location.

 If you want Support Team members to see the Participant’s latest location, also:

  • check Notify Team
  • set Min Distance and Min Time

Note: The actual location update frequency depends heavily on the mobile device OS.

7. Enable Geofences

Scroll to Geofences, enable them, and configure settings as needed.

9. Ensure Setup

  • Participant has mEMA10 and synced their mobile code
  • Support Team has mEMA10, synced their code, and has the triggered survey assigned

Important Note

Support Team members will only receive Push Notifications if they have a scheduled / repeating / momentary survey assigned to their mobile code.
 This requirement will be removed in a future update.
